A rare pic of hubby on the blog. |
I was going through some old things and I came across this poem I wrote in 1988 (that was middle school, I feel old). I don't have a lot of old stuff laying around. In fact, this might be the only thing in my house that dates back to the 80s. Back in the day I won a little poetry award for this one and I remember being so proud, but now that I think about it from an adult point of view, it was probably one of those "honorable mentions" that they give to everyone who enters.
In honor of Throwback Thursday, when once a month I usually share a post from the blog archives, I thought I would share my middle school poem instead. It seemed appropriate for St. Paddy's Day month because it is called Make Your Own Luck.

A Poetrygram from World of Poetry. You're impressed. I can tell. |
26 years ago I was so proud of my little poem and my silly little certificate award. Who knew that the grown up future me would think enough of it to share it on my blog. I hope you are all out there making your own luck!

Ways to (legally) stalk me:
I can totally relate to this! I wrote a story in 3rd grade about my favorite baby doll. It made it to the state level for awards. I was proud - never got beyond that but hey....throw back days are all about the goodies. Thank you for sharing your throw back days! Happy Early St. Patty's Day!
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! You should totally share your doll story. Do you still have it?
DeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elle!
DeleteI used to write short stories all the time when I was a kid. Maybe some TBT I will take some pics of my first book I wrote when I was in kindergarten. This is a great poem. Wide for someone so young :0)
ReplyDeleteYes, please share your book!!! :)
DeleteLove it Lea! So cute :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, friend!
