The Kona Kase is a monthly subscription box service. For $15 a month you receive eight healthy snack products in your mailbox. From the website: "Once a month, come home to find your Kase filled with nutritional products, inspirational quotes, training tips and stories behind our partner brands."
I honestly have to tell you when I signed up to receive the Kona Kase for a product review, I didn't have high expectations. I tried a similar subscription box-type-thing before and was so disappointed with it's contents that I didn't even review it. I wasn't going to waste your time. I remember thinking about that box that I would never pay a monthly subscription for this crap.
So why would I try another subscription box company when my first experience was so poor? Well, they were saying all the right things. Unlike the original company, this box promised eight healthy snack products. I was pretty confident that I wouldn't end up with a box full of processed samples or supplements. No, Thank you.
I am personally not big on supplements or energy gels or processed crap disguised as health food. I like real food. I love healthy snacks.
Most of all, I was thinking about you. I was thinking that I would get the box, assuming it was full of decent products, I'd pass it along to one of you in a giveaway. That was my true original intention, to let you enjoy the box.
Then the box arrived...and I saw what was inside...and then my plans changed...
Sorry people, I didn't intend for it to happen. Sorry I ate your giveaway. One thing led to another and before I knew it, most of the box was gone.
I was completely surprised and impressed with the great quality of products in the box. First all of, most of it was full size products, not samples. Then, nearly everything was all-natural, some products were Gluten-free, some organic, and some Vegan. Not that I personally usually seek out Gluten-free, Vegan, or organic products (or think that it is always necessary to do so), it just mainly speaks to the quality of the product included in the box.
I may have eaten 2 dark chocolate squares long before the thought of pulling out my camera even arrived, so forgive their absence (I swear they were there) but here is what I got (minus what I already ate.)
- I was pleasantly surprised with the quality, selection, and size of the products (no wimpy samples here!)
- My box mostly contained real food snacks with natural ingredients, something that is important to me.
- It was exciting to receive a box in the mail full of fun surprises. It was nice to receive something other than a bill in the mailbox.
- It introduced me to products I would never have heard of otherwise, products that I might like to try again in the future.
- Shipping is included in the box price.
- I'm not sure personally that I would be willing to pay $15 every single month to try new products, (I'm pretty
cheapfrugal.) The up side to this is that you can get free boxes for every friend you sign up, so if you are able to convince your friends, you might be able to get quite a few free boxes. There are also discounts for signing up for several months in advance.
- I received a really good box and loved most of the products, but there is no guarantee month to month that you would like everything. Based on my initial box, it looks promising, but there are no returns if you don't like your box.
Overall, I think this a high quality nutritional product subscription box with great real food products. If you are interested in a monthly subscription box, I think this is a fabulous one to try.
You can sign up on their website if you are interested in trying out a box. (This is not an affiliate link.)
So, I feel bad for eating your giveaway, but never worry. I have a fabulous giveaway coming next week! It is one that I can't be tempted to eat before I have a chance to write a blog post about it. The product is really awesome, something every race addicted runner needs, and customizable! Stay tuned...I'll make it up to you, I promise.
*Disclosure: These thoughts and opinions are my own. I was provided the Kona Kase free of charge for the purpose of a product review but I’m under no obligation to give it a positive review. If I hated it, I’d tell you.
