Throwback Thursday: Running Faster for Dummies

Little Running for Dummies

Welcome to the latest edition of Throwback Thursday, where I share a post from the earlier days of Running for Dummies that you may have missed.  Throwback Thursday also may be a self-indulgent excuse to share some of my throwback childhood pictures. I hope you enjoy it.

This post was originally published on June 16. In June of 2012, for the first time in my fitness life, I had spent the previous few months doing some serious weight training. You can imagine my shock when I discovered that heavy weight training made me a faster runner. Before this time I had shied away from weight training, as I didn't want it to interfere with my running. Boy, was I wrong.

This post discusses weight training and some of the other important things that I did to improve my comfortable running pace by a minute and a half per mile.  I hope you will click over and check it out.

  1. I'm learning that crossfit is making me speedier for sure! Love being strong!

  2. When I was doing Les Mills BodyPump I was also getting faster! Now, though, I haven't been weight training as much because I'm afraid of working too hard on easier days...I know I need to fit it in!
