My Favorite Four Legged Running Partner

I had to say good-bye to my favorite four legged running partner today.  At almost 16 years old, she hasn't been able to run with me for quite a few years, but she was always a willing, loving, protecting running partner. Seems like yesterday, but still probably several years ago, she would see me lacing up my running shoes and would know what was in store for her.  She would start to jump up and down so high that I swear her head would almost hit the ceiling. She would get so excited that it was hard to keep her still enough to put her collar on.  When I didn't feel like running, she always had enough motivation for the both of us. This was a dog with a passion for running with her mama.  She ran many miles with me throughout the years, protecting me on those dark streets in the early morning. When she got older and couldn't go for those long runs anymore, her ears would still perk up when she saw me putting on my running shoes.  She remembered.  Even though it was clearly and definitely her time to go, we couldn't let her suffer, it is heart-breaking to lose such an essential member of the family.  She lived a full, long, spoiled life and gave us nothing but love in return for almost 14 years.  I'll miss you mama.  Life won't be the same around here without you.

she even liked to plank with mama.

Keep Running,

  1. I had to have my dog of 12 years put down yesterday too and I an just heart . She taught my 13 year old how to stay in his bed all night, she was always willing to cuddle with anyone who needed a good hug, she loved to just be with us wherever we were. I really can't put in to words how much I Miss her. I burst in to tears on my way home from my run this morning because a car in front of my had a dog who was wagging their tail just ”so”. I'm sorry for your loss.

    1. thanks for your kind words Semalee. It is hard to lose them, they are members of the family. Sorry for your loss too. I find myself with a ting of jealously now when I see people on the street with their dogs. Maybe we will get another dog someday, but for now, I need to heal first.
